On Saturday, June 21, 2008, the Church Music Institute sponsored Sacred Music Reading Sessions, A Workshop for Church Musicians with Music Chosen by Church Musicians. The all-day event was held at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, Dallas. More than sixty attendees participated in four choral reading sessions, two topical sessions, morning prayer and worship.
Leaders of choral reading sessions were: Terry Price, Advent and Christmas music; Morris Martin, Lent and Easter music; Greg Hobbs, Pentecost and General music; and Linda Fray, music for Children and Youth. Presenting topical sessions were Hal Hopson, Let All the People Sing: Psalms and Communion Songs, and Joel Martinson, Hymnody: New Texts and Tunes for Congregation and Choir.
Senseney Music from Wichita, Kansas provided music packets for the sessions and offered music for sale.
