Hal Hopson Composes Three Choral Introits for CMI Members

Church Music Institute has commissioned Three Choral Introits by Hal H. Hopson for use in churches of our members. These pieces are composed by Mr. Hopson to celebrate CMI’s Church Music Festival and to honor participants from the churches represented. Congregations of CMI members will be the first to hear these introits performed in worship.

“Be Still Before the Lord” has Psalm 37:7a as its text and is written for SATB voices, optional flute and piano. It is appropriate for use in the upcoming Advent season or during Ordinary Time. “Glory to God in the Highest” is a Christmas introit that uses voices in a two-part canon with optional handbells. “Come, Let Us Sing to the Lord” is an a cappella SATB setting of Psalm 95:1 to be used during Ordinary Time.

CMI members are free to copy these introits and use them in worship planning for Advent, Christmas, and throughout the Church Year. Church Music Institute is grateful for Mr. Hopson’s exemplary contribution to music of the church and is pleased to provide these compositions for use in worship.
